First, if you are only a Junior, you could not have taken an official visit--- you are not eligible until you are a Senior. You are correct in saying that it is your responsibility to tell the coach that you are committing to his program. We would suggest that you tell the coach that after looking at other schools (assuming you have), his school is your #1 choice and you want to attend there after you graduate high school. Most likely, the coach wants you to look at other schools for the sake of comparison to his. That way you will feel 100% confident in your decision. You want to be honest with the coach, honest with your family and honest with yourself about why you are making the decision. And make sure that you are picking the school for the right reasons, not just for soccer Hope that this helps. Good luck. D3 Recruiting Hub Team

How do I go about telling a coach I want to verbally commit to their D3 Soccer Program (I am a Junior)? Since coaches can not offer athletic financial aide isn't it my responsibility to formally say, " Hey coach after visiting other programs, and seeing my possibilities I realized that the best place for me to attend and play is your university," or should I wait until the coach approaches me and says we want you to come play for us? I am reluctant to ask, because I do not want to rush the coach's decision, but I had an Official visit two months ago (they seemed extremely interested and said they want me to come their, but still want me to look and other schools and make an informed decision), since then I have received personal phone calls from both head and assistant coaches, emails, and personal (handwritten) mail. Where should I go from here, because I would really like to commit over the summer.

Hello great website! Does running a blog such as this take a great deal of work?
I've virtually no knowledge of coding however I had been hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyhow, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share. I understand this is off subject but I simply wanted to ask. Kudos!

Tom-
Thanks very much for your comments. It does take discipline for student-athletes to succeed (especially at the D3 level). Best of luck to your daughter at Carnegie-Mellon.
Cheers!

Nice post, as usual. Completely agree about the discipline issue. My daughter is a freshman at Carnegie Mellon and she simply had to develop the discipline to study and do soccer at the same time.

Thanks very much for reading the D3 Recruiting Hub and thanks for leaving us your comments.

The intent was not to be negative, but to just give "food for thought" for recruits (and their families) as they go thru the recruiting process and try to cover the myriad of things that can happen.

Cheers,
